Miners from Mars: Asteroid shape language

Shape language is always a big deal to me during the visual development stage of game design. The shapes have to communicate the theme, but also the mood and tone of the game. Miners from Mars was meant to be campy, quirky and fun, and every shape in the game should convey that. This page of doodles is where I grappled with these issues to come up with the right shapes for the asteroids in a belt around a planet.
